GALICIA ❤: 11 PLACES TO VISIT

Galicia ❤ is  located in the Northwest of Spain. It’s one of the most beautiful areas of the country, not just because I am from there ❤, but it is. You can find any thing that you are looking for your holidays {but not warm water}. These are just 11 amazing places:

❤ SIL CANYON – River Sil is the main tributary of River Miño, the most important river in Galicia. On its way in the province of Lugo, the river made these beautiful canyon.

❤ THE FORTS OF SANTA TECLA – Celtic civilization was one of the most important  pre-Roman civilizations in the province of Pontevedra, and the one that had most influence.  The Santa Tecla (Santa Trega) is one of the best preserved, and is believed to have had a continuous occupation from century BC to be abandoned gradually until late Roman times. There are remains of huts, walls, petroglyphs.

❤ COMBARRO – The most typical Galician fishing village. You can also find a lot of ‘hórreos’ {granaries, elevated on stilts dedicated to dry, cure and store corn and grains before milling}, something really common in any Galician town. Combarro is a site with great historical and cultural interest.

❤ PRAIA DAS CATEDRALES – Perhaps best known is the landscape of Galicia, or are among them. But for those who do not know of this place, we could not ignore it. Praia das Catedrales is a maritime border with cliffs that form rock arches up to 30 meters high. It’s called Praia de Augas Santas, and is in the town of Lugo Ribadeo.

❤ ÉZARO WATERFALLS – Ézaro is located in A Coruña facing the Atlantic and holds the only waterfall that falls directly into the sea around Europe. It happens in the mouth of the river Xallas.

❤ CORRUBEDO DUNES – Located in the province of Lugo. There is a natural park (Corrubedo dunes and lagoons Carregal and Vixán) containing a small “desert” sand, a particular ecosystem in one of the most visited natural points of Galicia. The dune complex has a kilometer long in an area of ​​beaches, lagoons and a wildlife paradise.

❤ PAZO DE OCA – Traditional Galician manor houses (mansions) are called Pazo. They were the former residences of nobles or important personalities. The Pazo de Oca is a good example of this, as well as to be known as the Generalife north, or Galician Versailles. An estate with manor house, gardens, church, fountains and a distinctive natural environment.

❤ ISLAS CÍES – Cies islands is an archipelago located in Rías Baixas. Their beaches are a paradise, and in february of 2007, The Guardian chose Praia das Rodas as “the best beach of the world”.

❤ FRAGAS DO EUME – An enchanted forest in the province of A Coruña. One of the most beautiful forest in Spain.

❤ O COUREL – Views from the beaitful mountain range called O Courel. Fall is definitely the best season to visit this place and enjoy all those colors in its trees.
